Lots done, lots to report

Let's start with something completely off topic, but so very cool and an incredible story!

I was at the filling station last month when this pulled in behind me:

When something this iconic pulls in, you have to find out more : )   Unfortunately I only had my phone with me, but managed to get some shots. The owner was on his way to the Goodwood Revival to show the car and spent a few minutes talking his way around this amazing vehicle.

He is an ex-engineer and built a lot of the car from scratch. He started with an original bare chassis and over many years, bought or built parts to complete the car. He said he'd built engine and suspension parts and fabricated body panels.

Bearing in mind, this was before the Internet and the plethora of information held here, I understand he did most of the work in South Africa, half a world away from Crewe.

The quality is astounding: please enlarge these pictures to get the full glory.

However, the story continues... He's thinking of settling over here (England) for good and had the car shipped over - literally, on a ship. However, the ship didn't stay right-side-up and ended up on the bottom of the sea with this amazing car on it.

After some negotiation, the insurers decided that it was cheaper to go down and bring the car back to the surface than pay the claim! So it was rescued and following a nut and bolt rebuild, it's now back with us on the road.

I'm going to try to get down to the Revival next year to get more of this story.
