A very quick post before I go and walk the dog. But first, thanks to all you readers out there. It's been a great pleasure sharing my adventures with you all and getting your very kind feedback!
The little 749RS is built to race, obviously, and can be built to WSS/WSB weight limits. In order to help the bike get to the weight limit, Ducati Corse use a small race battery.
This has obvious limitations when starting the bike, especially when the compression is cranked up. The smaller battery is not able to start the bike from cold and if it does, the bike struggles to re-charge and run the ECU, telemetry etc. (the alternator is smaller than the road unit and supplies less current).
So, John Hackett fits these red plugs to the bike that allow a remote battery to supply additional current when starting from cold. These combine Anderson plugs with a good copper cable straight to the battery terminals. You can use a bike battery or even a small car battery to provide additional power, but I use a jump start pack, which comes complete with a mains charging cable. All very easy.

The gravel here is from the driveway, not from gravel trap!
I have some pictures from an outing at Brands Hatch to put up in the next couple of days. Hope you had a good weekend!
Enjoy, Jerry.
