Talking to a buddy in Europe last night. I understand that uprated engine components may be ready for the Panigales sooner than expected.
The current motors are basically blueprinted 1199S motors - the same as you can buy in the showroom today. I'm not even sure the heads have been flowed - they really are completely stock. In BSB, the competition have been developing their motors for years in some cases and it's easy to see why the new bikes were off the pace at a high speed circuit like Thruxton.
Not properly speaking any language other than English, I may have missed something, but I understood that upgrades would be production based items, particularly uprated rotating parts to allow the motor to rev closer to the limit and maybe induction parts to help it use higher revs more effectively.
Certainly some of these parts were tested a while ago, so hopefully, these parts will be ready for the BSB teams before the next high speed, high power circuits.
Disclaimer: this is genuinely not factory insider, or team knowledge, so it may be complete BS. However, if performance upgrades are available, I'm sure every Ducati fan would want to see Ducati teams becoming more competitive asap. Particularly in this country : )
