When I bought the bike, I had it taken to Toine (Biggelaar, Holand), who has worked on all my motors and has built and tuned at least two 749R Supersport motors in the last year. He found that the generator had come loose and was floating around inside the generator cover. Had I ridden the bike, it would have destroyed the motor on the first corner.
We also found that Carrachi had been running different camshafts, less aggressive but less powerful than the 4Y cams, so I spent a while looking for replacements. In the meantime, Toine sent the engine cases off to be painted and they have taken a loooonnng time to come back. A really long time. A really, really... you get the idea.
Once the cases came back and Toine had got me a build slot (next in after a GP Desmo!) The first job was to replace all the fittings removed from the cases prior to paining - the head studs, oil cooler pipes, oil window etc.
Then the crank and gearbox went in. All the bearings were replaced, regardless of condition 'for sure, I don't want this motor to explode'. Yeah Toine, me neither : )
This picture shows the belt pulley well. The bike runs the wider, RS belts, like the 998, 999, 1098RS' and the belt pulleys are correspondingly larger.
The heads were pretty good, but Toine's business has over 40 years of tuning Ducatis and were able to smooth the chambers a little. Not very much tho! I asked Toine why the combustion chambers were still so dirty and all I understood was something about 'engineers' and 'not ****ing detailling business'. He's busy.
Moving on: the motor runs twin timing pickups. They are just visible in these pictures.
Here's the (smaller) RS generator fixed into the motor. All the bolts inside and outside the motor are titanium. Lovely!

There's a little damage on the primary gear, so we're waiting for a replacement before the job can be completed.
However, what's been done looks amazing!
Thanks for spending your time to read this. Ride safe!
